We're thrilled to be bringing utterly fantastic Ana'Ole ukuleles to the UK. This ATSC model features an upgraded curly koa body, a gorgeous 'Kamaka-esque' abalone rosette and front and back binding. It also features an ebony fingerboard and bridge which really adds a sense of luxury to the feel of the ukulele and a bit more attack to the overall sound.

Ana'Ole, meaning 'immeasurable' in Hawaiian, are a long established ukulele company in and around Honolulu and Kaikoloa as well as in some specialist shops in the far east. It's our pleasure to bring these lovely looking instruments over the Europe and see for ourselves what all the fuss is about!

The neck is mahogany and the tuners on this model are rotomatic mini grover tuners, definitely an upgrade on 99% of the tuners Ana'ole could have used...

Ana'Ole's tenor ukulele neck profile is reminiscent of other Hawaiian builds. It's quite chunky with a 37 mm nut width, but feels so damn familiar and played in despite its short life. In fact, the whole package is incredibly desirable whilst remaining considerably more affordable than the more established Hawaiian manufacturers.

The sound is very similar to many older Kamaka ukuleles we have seen. It has real chime and presence when you play single notes and a very open slightly throaty sound when you strum a chord. This sound won't be for everyone, though. It isn't quite as clean and compressed as modern UV finish lacquer instruments tend to be. It's really for the traditionalists out there - you are going to love it!

The finish is also very reminiscent of years gone by too. It has an almost waxy high gloss finish that reminds us of KoAloha pre-2012 or 1970s Kamakas. The beauty of the ATSC model is that it really does look the part. The vintage specification and cosmetic upgrades are so distinctly Hawaiian. They're a perfect homage to the very famous Kamaka deluxe models with abalone but at about 30% of the price of the real deal!

If you have dreamed of owning a Hawaiian made ukulele but are not ready to invest in some of the bigger brands then Ana'Ole is definitely worth paying attention to. Comparing these to the Pono range, lots of you will choose the Ana'Ole. It offers something a bit more unique with rustic charm. The waxy finish can make the instrument appear older than it is, but tonally, the light gloss finish works with the tone woods perfectly. As the finish is nitro cellulose over open pore wood, some pitting and pockmarks are to be expected.

We cannot recommend these instruments highly enough.
