This all solid Hawaiian mango Big Island concert ukulele has all the sound, feel and look you could wish for. To sweeten the deal, it's also got a lower than expected price tag. All Big Island acoustic ukes are half made in Hawaii: the wood is milled and prepared in Hawaii, then shipped to a specialist factory in Vietnam for assembly. The quality is excellent, definitely a step up from what you expect to find from most Chinese factories.

We've always found that mango is en excellent choice of wood for a concert ukulele. Not only does it have that tropical mojo, it is also a sustainable wood, much more so than other indigenous Hawaiian species. Sound wise, it's much more like mahogany than spruce, it is on the mellower end of the spectrum. You get a very relaxed, smooth sound which lends itself more naturally to strumming than fingerpicking. It takes a low G very well.
