Named for the Islands off the coast of San Francisco, Farallon is the first tenor crafted from Ekoa, a high-performance material made of natural linen fiber and bioresin.

Farallon’s unique soundboard is lighter than wood and tuned for a powerful vintage tone. This ecological composite is structurally superior to vintage old-growth wood, and is temperature and humidity stable. The rugged hollow neck one-piece structure enhances projection providing you with unmatched dynamics and the ultimate playing experience. There is a little soundhole on the headstock as well, to allow the sound resonating around the hollow neck to escape. Very clever! And, it really makes a difference - it is like another personal soundhole. We tried to quantify it a few years ago, and we found that about 10% of the volume that comes from the body comes out of this little soundhole, so it is worth having.

The Blackbird Farallon tenor ukulele resonates quite like no other uke we have ever played. It is clean, crisp with very distinct highs and lows. This instrument sits at the top table with all of the tenor ukuleles from other specialist manufacturers. You really outdid yourselves here, Blackbird - well done.

These Blackbird ukuleles also feature the cost options of a gloss sunburst finish, aluminium side dots, a side sound port and a rechargeble MiSi pickup, with tone and volume control wheels accessible in the soundhole. Truly a deluxe instrument in every respect!

Please note that these instruments are made of pressed and moulded natural fibres, some of which can show in random patterns in the finish. They can look a little like scratches, but they are not - they are just like birthmarks from the moulding process. Please do not expect a perfect mirror finish that you might get on a Kanile'a!
