Breedlove have a very highly respected and well-earned reputation in the guitar world. They've made their name as a premium guitar manufacturers based out of Oregon, but have dabbled in ukuleles in the past. Now, thanks to the rising popularity of these wonderful little instruments, Breedlove have come up with some more stunning ukes. What surprised us is the uniqueness of the design at such a budget conscious price.

This Lu'au model has a solid Myrtle top with laminate Myrtle back and sides. It has a very clean high gloss finish and just about the coolest grey burst finish we have ever seen. This finish really pops when you start to notice the little eccentricities of the figured Myrtle below the finish. Myrtle has an almost mango like sweet sound but the gloss helps retain some of the volume and projection, a winning combination.

The Breedlove active piezo pickup system is great too. It offers a fantastic range of flexibility when plugged in, which is where this instrument really comes into its own. The ebony fingerboard adds some tangible quality to this instrument that does elevate it above some of the Ohana, Kala, and Ortega models in the same price category. Overall, this is a fabulous reintroduction to the ukulele world for Breedlove. This stunning concert ukulele will make its future owner very happy every time it comes out of the bag.
