Breedlove have a very highly respected and well earned reputation in the guitar world as a premium guitar manufacturer based out of Oregon. They had previously dabbled with ukuleles but not for quite some time. It is no surprise given the dramatic rise of our favourite little instrument that they would be back with something new eventually. The biggest surprise is that they have produced a unique looking instrument at such budget conscious prices.

This Lu'au model has a solid Myrtle top with laminate Myrtle back and sides, a very clean high gloss finish and a very cool and unique shaded top that offers a completely different look to the norm when paired with the brighter back and sides. This ukulele also features a cutaway for easier access up the fingerboard. Myrtle has an almost mango like sweet sound but the gloss helps retain some of the volume and projection, winning combination.

The Breedlove active piezo pickup system is great too, offering a good amount of flexibility plugged in which is where this instrument really comes into its own. The ebony fingerboard adds some tangible quality to this instrument that does elevate it above some of the Ohana, Kala, and Ortega models in the same price category. On the whole, this is a great reintroduction to the ukulele world for Breedlove and will make it's future owner very happy every time it comes out of the bag.
