Chris Perkins - AAA American Black Walnut Jumbo body Tenor Ukulele

It's so great to have another Perkins in-store. Chris is one of the UK's premier Ukulele builders and the previous owners of his Tenor/Baritone hybrid ukes have kept getting back in touch to tell us just what a superb purchase the Perkins have been. Chris developed this Ukulele to solve that crisis of identity many players are currently suffering from; 'A Baritone size Ukulele for a Tenor player'. This Ukulele has a slightly elongated Tenor scale and can be strung either GCEA or DGBE. The increased scale length makes the sustain and depth for a Tenor player bigger and bolder and when you pair it with the larger Perkins body it adds an extra dimension to the sound.

The body of this Ukulele is AAA High figure American Black Walnut and it sounds so warm with that larger Baritone body that just having it in the shop reduces the heating bill in the cold winter months. It also retains Chris's unique cello inspired shape and extremely unique wood choices - a very British instrument that offers something just as premium as many of the high end Hawaiian builders but with a slight English folk twist.

In addition to that gorgeous Black Walnut body; you may be thinking that the fretboard on this Ukulele is unusually black and textured. On closer inpection you would be right - the fretboard is 3000 year old Ancient Bog Oak reclaimed from the Suffolk Fens. WOW!
