Chris Perkins - All Solid Spruce/African Zebrano Bari-Tenor Ukulele w/Hard Case

£1,999.00 £1,665.83

Wow, wow, wow... We have been waiting an age for another ukulele from Chris Perkins and the man just doesn't disappoint! This bari-tenor has a hybrid tenor and baritone body with Chris's signature round shoulder dreadnought-esque shape. It has a slightly longer tenor scale of 18'' which creates a tiny bit more string tension and can (with a change of strings!) be easily tuned to baritone tuning in DGBE, as well as tenor GCEA.

The top is solid European spruce, which is paired with a solid African zebrano body. Zebrano is a great substitute hardwood for ebony, with great reflection, faithful reproduction of even the tiniest eccentricities in your playing, and that solid spruce top is the perfect tone engine, offering up tonnes of volume and clarity without over compressing the sound. It is extremely impressive when played up the neck - all the note in all the positions ring true and long, with very decent intonation indeed.

The bigger body lends itself perfectly to a low G or the lower DGBE baritone tuning. This ukulele basically sounds as big as a guitar to our ears.

The decoration is beautifully understated with some aluminium position markers, ebano bindings and an Ovangkol rosette and headstock.
