Cort UKEBWSOP All Solid Blackwood Soprano Ukulele with padded gigbag
The new blackwood soprano ukuleles from Cort are really well made. We were wondering how long it might take Cort, one of the worlds' biggest guitar makers, to wade into the ukulele market. You may not know, but the Cort factory makes an awful lot of guitars for other bigger brands, such as Ibanez, Fender Squier, ESP, G&L amongst others. So they know what they are doing.
And they really do! These new all solid blackwood ukuleles are made really well, nice and light and very sturdy. The design is very traditional in the US mainland school of styling, with not a lot of bling to detract from/add to the instrument depending on your point of view.
Blackwood is an acacia relative which is native to Australia, so tonally it produces the nice chiming resonant sound that you expect from Acacia. It does not have the bassy warmth of mahogany or the immediacy of spruce, but like koa and Asian acacia, it has a really lovely quite harplike tone which lends itself equally well to strumming or picking.
Pictures show an average example. For photos of actual stock, please drop us a line. If you are not fussed - they are all different, but all lovely!
