Fender Fullerton Stratocaster Spruce Top Concert Ukulele Surf Green (SUS Modified)

We're delighted to bring you this lovely Fender Fullerton Stratocaster spruce topped concert ukulele in vibrant surf green.

Fender have an interesting history with ukuleles. They have dabbled over the years with cheaper instruments made in the far east of variable quality and general direction before paying more attention to the uke properly in 2009. One of my earliest memories of working for Southern Ukulele Store is selling the first incarnation of a Montecito tenor ukulele. Customers were always drawn to the Fender iconic designs with the 4 in line machine heads (which by complete chance, actually increase the string tension in a positive way on a ukulele). 

In recent years, opinion has been divided with the introduction of the Fullerton series. These ukes offer up the iconic Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster and Jazzmaster shapes in colourful Fender famous colours.

For under £200 in 2023, you are not spoilt for choice if you want a reliable stage instrument. You have a few laminate options by Kala and occasionally you will see something from Snail or Ohana but they are very conventional instruments and you certainly wouldn't have as much fun on a stage with those ukes as you would with these. They sound great and the pickup is a lot of fun! 

The negatives? Well, they don't have a strap button fitted and the factory set up and strings are a bit ropey...but, we have a plan!

We know the secret sauce to making affordable ukuleles play their best is a good set up and the right kind of strings so what we have done is set this ukulele up with Fremont blackline fluorocarbon strings and a Soloist smoothwound low G and they sing now! The instrument not only looks the part but it now sounds and feels the part too. We charge a bit more than a warehouse style shop would but we give the instruments a thorough set up, an improved set of strings and fit a strap button to the butt of the uke

Listing shows a typical example, it will not come in a bag but fits wonderfully in our TGI extreme tenor bag.
