Flight A10 Purpleburst All Solid Quilted Maple/Mahogany Tenor Ukulele w/Gigbag

This Ukulele is the last of a limited run done by Flight in 2024. It is currently with Flights UK distributor but can be shipped to us immediately. We will do our usual workshop work on the instrument and dispatch it within 3-5 working days of the order being placed. 

When I first saw one of these beauties, the world stopped for a moment, Gunzy audibly gasped and I swear somewhere in the heavens, Prince nodded in approval. I wanted to keep this stunning looking and sounding tenor ukulele for myself. I was thrilled when we got more in the shop! This is another custom shop Flight based on the 10th anniversary instruments and once again they have absolutely nailed it. 

The A10 Purple Burst is made with quilted maple as opposed to flamed maple which has a straighter grain pattern. The sound of the maple is incredibly balanced and although it has arrived with us from Flight strung high G; this ukulele is absolutely dying to be strung low G. That's the good thing about maple, it sounds mature and crystal clear - refreshing on the ears and eyes. The back and sides are made from stunning and rarely seen quilted Mahogany. Even the neck has this lovely pattern to the wood grain that you don't see every day.

The icing on the cake for these stunning tonewoods is the subtle purple transluscent stain and that thick hand inlaid abalone rosette.

Over the years, we have had the fortune of dealing with custom builders and manufacturers at every price. This anniversary model from Flight represents fantastic value for its price giving even the big brands like aNueNue, Romero Creations, Maestro and Big Island a serious run for their money.

Rather than use the factory responsible for the Fireball, Mustang and Voyager models - Flight have gone to a respected Chinese luthier and as a result, these instruments have all of the personality of a Flight but with the uniqueness of a small luthier team build. 

The finish is extremely good inline with other instruments at this price from the big boys like Kanile'a, KoAloha etc. We did find on the most recent batch that a few knots in the wood could be found inside the creases of the slotted headstock but even the loftiest price custom shop instrument might have something like that... Still, you folks expect us to find these things so it's better we mention it in the listing!

It is so, so hard to make the jump from beginners brand to intermediate and finally professional brand. So many people have tried to do this over the decades with mixed results. Flight have done it flawlessly in under 2 years.
