Flight IRIS Solid Spruce Top Tenor 8 String Electro Ukulele w/Padded Gigbag - Black
The Flight Iris was in the works for 12 months during its initial development. The plan was to offer a vintage colour take on affordable ukuleles. The three initial colours offered in the concert size were all reminiscent of vintage acoustic guitar colours from the 1960s and 1970s with an added chunky pickguard which is both aesthetically pleasing and practical as it will hopefully avoid you scratching your ukulele heavily. With the black/blue combination being the outright favourite; Flight have now issued the Iris in an 8 string ukulele.
The finish is satin and this uke has a solid spruce top with laminate mahogany back and sides. It projects wonderfully and looks reminiscent of aNueNue's popular colour series ukulele but with more restrained and introverted colour schemes in place.
This Flight ukulele benefits from the slotted headstock. This design gives it a nice balance between the headstock and the body and a bit more poise and punch to the sound and as if that wasn't reason enough to check out the Iris 8 string, it is also fitted with the Flight double system pickup as seen in the Carabao Lite models with a hidden soundhole mounted volume and tone control connected to an undersaddle piezo. This has long been one of the best things about Flight Ukuleles at this price. You don't have to use the pickup but if you wanted to; its ready and waiting to go..
This uke will be shipped with the really great Flight gigbag that we have seen with the other Iris models.
On the whole, we were excited for the Iris, particularly the black one which offers a more affordable alternative to the extremely popular Flight Nighthawk model - satin finish black with the electric blue pickguard in an 8 string ukulele!
