Kanile'a make some of the finest ukuleles on the sunny island of Oahu. Their instruments have incredible finishes, really second to none, and they possess incredible poise, both physically and sonically.

This Kanile'a K1 tenor ukulele feels so light in the hand, thanks to very clever bracing and beautifully refined, high quality thin wood being used. They're put together by master craftsmen, who love what they do, and this shows.

Everything on the bodies is designed to maximise vibrations - the touch and release bracing allows the top to ring for longer, the internal binding top the top and back is as minimal as possible without compromising structural integrity, and the wood is very carefully selected for the correct grain properties which allows the soundwaves to be created.

Modern Kanile'a K-1 models come with an updated ebony headstock faceplate and white pearl inlays as well as the new improved TRU-R bracing system which is stiffer and lighter than before. 

The aforementioned master craftsmen have taken their building expertise to a whole new level this year, and we are thrilled to be the first store in the entirety of Europe to offer Kanile'a ukulele's with TRU-Reduction, a revolutionary technology generating more presence, resonance, sustain and volume from these already incredible ukulele's. So, let's talk a little about TRU-Reduction.

Using laser guided CAM Kanile'a have developed a system for removing around 40% of material from carefully selected areas of the soundboard in selected ukulele's. Being supremely calculated in this process, avoiding the risk of affecting the instruments rigidity and stability, whilst still removing material, the TRU-Reduction process allows more of the natural resonance of the uke to ring through, creating a truly measurable difference in the natural tonewood sound.
