Kiwaya KMS-K Master Grade Hawaiian Koa Soprano Ukulele

£1,899.00 £1,582.50

Kiwaya have long had a reputation as being the heir apparant to the traditional Martin style soprano. This solid master grade koa Kiwaya soprano ukulele sounds and looks the part. Kiwaya ukuleles are built as light as possible for tone and projection, and modelled on the vintage Martin models (this time a 3K). The craftsmen in Japan pay close attention to details such as intonation, action, playability and cosmetic appearance.

The result is extraordinary. This vintage vibed soprano ukulele sings with a volume and clarity that is astonishing, punctuated by the sweet, chimey sound of good koa. its a wonder to behold and Kiwaya have made this tenor player rethink the possibilities of a good soprano many times over the past 10+ years.

This really is among the top end of the Kiwaya catalogue. We only see one of these every 3-4 years as the right kind of wood is in short supply and the uke itself remains in high demand in its native Japan. It has the looks, the sound, the feel, the finish...it is so fabulously characterful but precise at the same time that it makes playing it an absolute doddle, with huge and gratifying rewards!

Pictures show the actual instrument you will receive. Up close, it is stunning, and displays the same chatoyancy that you normally associate with quarter sawn and bookmatched koa. This one is a particularly lovely sounding one as well, with a wonderful pattern of harmonics in the strumming sound, which is befitting of the high spec the instrument is made of.
