KoAloha Red Label Custom Silver Series Hawaiian Koa Tenor Ukulele #T-017

Every couple of years, we are lucky enough to be offered limited edition red label ukuleles by KoAloha. The red label instruments are high spec short series instruments made by a hand full of KoAloha's senior builders and incorporate some of the specs Paul Okami (2nd generation master luthier at KoAloha) uses for his black label custom models. To commemorate the 25th 'silver' anniversary of KoAloha in 2020, they designed two different red label models; the second of which we have here.

This high grade Hawaiian koa tenor feels lighter and more balanced in the hand than a standard KoAloha and has a more conventional ladder bracing pattern under the top which creates a smoother, more traditional and less extrovert sound than traditional KoAloha ukes.

The team at KoAloha are only producing around 30 of these models in concert and tenor size and they are unique in the KoAloha line in that they have a thin abalone rosette around the soundhole and front figured ebony binding. The headstock features the KoAloha custom logo and Hipshot deluxe tuners in place of the usual Der Jung tuners and finally the fretboard inlays commemorate the anniversary with a tasteful roman numeral inlay among the usual abalone dots.
