We can't think of a better value for money instrument than the L.Luthier range. L.Luthier are a Malaysian brand, which manufactures their instruments in China - These are made to an extremely high standard that defies the price. Upto now, L.Luthier have focused exclusively on the intermediate players of this world with small production runs of standard models that vary slightly in wood combinations.

The new COCO series tenor ukuleles, advance things to the next level; offering higher grade and figured woods, some subtle trim and a tweak of machineheads. The COCO has a textured and gorgeous straight grained solid spruce top with South American Cocobolo back and sides. Cocobolo is a prized instrument tonewood that shares many characteristics with the now restricted Brazilian Rosewood... It has a deep, wine red natrual colour and depth to the wood grain not seen on other Rosewood type woods. The sap wood contrasts wonderfully creating a very regal looking instrument. Tonally, this instrument is loud, balanced, crisp and clean sounding. L.Luthier at their core are a company working to produce the quintisential modern, clean sounding ukulele and the COCO series definitely amp things up to put L.Luthier at the head of the table with peers such as Ko'olau, AnueNue and Kanile'a.

This electro ukulele would take a low G string really well, and we would recommend the Fremont squeakless string as being the best bet. But, high G sounds really good as well; strumming sounds just how you would want, with good note definition in chords and pretty harmonics in that nice decay, and picked passages sound lively and well defined, with plenty of volume on offer with very little effort. The intonation is really very good indeed, and will allow playing accurately in any position.

Cosmetic differences between this model and the other L.Luthier include the subtle front Padauk binding and Maple trim as well as a vintage style white button open gear set of tuners. A lot of credit has to go to the builders and designers at L.Luthier, who have made a brilliant instrument, which has both style and substance.

The pickup system is extremely capable too. With any piezo/mic blend system, you will find that mixing in too much of the mic can lead to distortion, but mix in around 1/3 and it adds a depth and realism to your sound which is just gorgeous.

Highly recommended! Pictures show actual instrument you will receive.
