Ohana TK43 Solid Burled Redwood/Indian Rosewood Tenor Ukulele no.1
At £500, it is hard to find such a highly specced uke, with such choice tonewoods and such beautiful binding and purfling. Sonically, Redwood has a tone much like Cedar and Cypress (or Port Orford Cedar) so you can expect a really strong response across the frequency range, and for a Low G to sound full without being too boomy. The scarceness of wood with this kind of mosaic'd burl to the wood makes it an even greater find. Equally suited to fingerpicking or strumming, this uke sound clean, clear, warm and strident when you really play with vigour.
This is one of the Ohana models made in much more limited numbers, and it has taken some time for this model to become available again, but boy is it worth the wait! Instrument grade Redwood seems to come around far less frequently than the other more familiar woods. So for something a little different on the eyes and the ears, this has to be considered very seriously.
Pictures show actual instrument. Please note a slight reduction has been made to this instrument because it was used at the 2023 NAMM show by Ohana to show off this new model. The condition is fantastic and it is virtually unplayed but Ohana themselves have put a little - in the label to denote it is an ex-display model.
