Pete Howlett Solid Koa Electro Acoustic Tenor Ukulele in hard case #1024

£1,999.00 £1,665.83

Although Pete Howlett has become very famous for his Revelator ukuleles, he is still making world class acoustic ukuleles. This is just the latest example - simply stunning in every respect. Made from some of Pete's private reserve stash of flamed koa, this electro acoustic tenor ukulele both looks and sounds extremely classy indeed.

Pete builds his acoustic instruments very light indeed, which maximises their volume and sustain. This tenor uke has notable volume, with great clarity and a lovely bright edge to the sound which is very suited to high G stringing. It amazes me that given how thin the body is (only 64mm deep at the bottom bout), the sound is so loud, vibrant and complex, and rings for so long: but therein lies the skill of the builder.

The matte finish, whilst not making the features in the koa visually pop quite like a gloss finish would, brings a nice earthy, openness to the sound. I think a matte finish really allows the sound of a uke to be truest to the wood - you get nothing but koa deliciousness from this one!
