Pono MTC-E All Solid Mahogany Electro Cutaway Tenor Ukulele Satin

A very versatile all round performer with a sound that is classic Mahogany. Very rich and lustrous, with a deep bass and smooth trebles, it has good volume and sustain that makes it suitable to play in many different styles. And access to the top frets is a doddle with this one owing to the cutaway.

High quality fixtures and fittings, such as a bone nut and saddle, really help this instrument make the impressive volume that it does. When strumming it, like with all Pono instruments, you notice that it retains clarity and good note definition even when you really give it the beans, never distorting at all or making you feel that you have to back off. And when picking, even quietly, each note rings through nicely, creating a very pretty pattern of harmonics as it does so.

We retrofit a professional quality Fishman passive pickup to the standard Pono MTC model to create the MTC-E. It has an endpin jack socket which you can use for your strap on the bottom bout.

About the Pono line: The “Pono” line is made by Ko’olau one of the oldest and most traditional Hawaiian ukulele manufacturers. It is of interest to note that only the finest grades of quartersawn hardwoods, such as Mahogany, Rosewood, and Ebony are selected for Pono instruments. However, only 20% pass the stringent requirements of density, grain patterns, flexibility, and cosmetic aesthetics. This is virtually unknown, especially in the Asian import market.
