Pono TE-MDR RED Deluxe Electric Mango Tenor Ukulele Gloss with hard case #1

We're not afraid to say that this deluxe Pono tenor is one of the finest electric ukuleles made today. The solid chambered mango body is covered with a red stain and gloss finish. It has a Macassar ebony faceplate and radiused fretboard, 35mm nut width.

Pono bring it home with passive undersaddle pickup with volume control, high quality geared machine heads, Ko'olau Mahana High G strings. Made in Indonesia, with the pickup added and final setup done in Hawaii by the Ko'olau guys.

The build quality is exactly what you would expect from Pono, faultless, and the engineering behind the design is very clever. This electric ukulele is highly feedback resistant when plugged in, so you can focus on what is really important, sounding great and looking fabulous!

This tenor ukulele also has enough volume when unplugged for quiet personal practice. And with a slightly radiused fretboard, it feels more like an electric instrument than a standard acoustic ukulele. The truss rod, which is fairly unique to Pono ukuleles, allows for ease of setup and adjustment to get it just so.

About the Pono line: The “Pono” line is made by Ko’olau one of the oldest and most traditional Hawaiian ukulele manufacturers. Ko’olau’s goal throughout the years has been to provide the highest quality stringed instruments available with a high standard of craftsmanship. And besides methods of construction to optimize tone and volume, they stress the importance of cosmetic beauty.

It is of interest to note that only the finest grades of quartersawn hardwoods, such as mahogany, rosewood, and ebony are selected for Pono instruments. However, only 20% pass the stringent requirements of density, grain patterns, flexibility, and cosmetic aesthetics. This is virtually unknown, especially in the Asian import market. We are proud of the fact that all of the Pono instruments are made of solid woods.
