The Flight Songbird is being released in June 2025 with a limited worldwide quantity of just 30 pieces. Southern Ukulele Store have secured at least 5 at launch which are available to pre-order today.

The Flight Songbird is the next step in the evolutionary line of Flight's iconic and highly regarded Fireball and Comet line-up. This is a rare breed of ukulele with a solid flamed maple top and solid mango back and sides. This wood combination whilst unusual produces an incredibly sweet sound that rewards gentle players with huge sustain and clean, textured single notes.

This ukulele is the first Flight tenor to feature a slim-line body. There is definitely a trend in the ukulele world right now for form fitting; reduced depth ukuleles. Flight are entering the ukulele world with a tenor that offers a similar feel to the popular Kala night owl Revelator ukuleles, whilst having a much sweeter and more introspective tone.

Alex had the opportunity to try the prototype of this Flight ukulele which was being sent to UK based teacher Justilele. Our photos show the back of the headstock with her name inlaid in but this signature will not be on the final production models.

The Flight songbird tenor has a functional side sound port and comes with an active Double C1U pickup; with a battery driven volume and tone control and end pin socket. Have I mentioned the fingerboard inlay of a songbird yet? Well, it's cool... check out the photos.
