Please note this Used Beau Hannam ukulele is available for purchase by UK customers only.

This is an extremely rare and precious find! A much preloved Beau Hannam - Staufferlele previously owned and demonstrated across the UK by Samantha Muir. The condition is excellent with signs of play but the ukulele has been clearly loved and looked after from day one. Condition is 9/10 with three small scratches on the top from a stray nail on a hard strum. Given the artisan and hand made nature of the ukulele; it would be virtually impossible to keep it in mint condition after 5 years of daily play.

This Ukulele was built for Samantha in 2019 by Beau as nod towards the very earliest of the very earliest modern fretted string instruments made by Johann Stauffer... One of Stauffers apprentices was a young Christian Frederick Martin who went on to create Martin & Co instruments nearly 200 years ago. The scroll headstock is a homage to romatic period music and it is beatuifully crafted. In fact, this instrument is lightweight, resonant, clean and vibrant in your hands. It feels almost elastic under the fingers with tonnes of sustain, volume and character to individual note playing.

The instrument is made from Adirondack Spruce and Tasmanian Blackwood. Black wood can often look strikingly like Hawaiian Koa and there has never been a better example of that than with this instrument. It was designed, braced and contoured to suit Classical and Campanella Ukulele playing.

Cosmetically, this instrument has some seriously understated deluxe appointments; a bound fingerboard, front and back binding, a sound hole rosette that has more detail and finesse in it than you might expect at first glance. It's truly magnificent.

This Ukulele is an extremely serious instrument that clearly took hundreds of hours to make. I had never experienced a Beau Hannam Ukulele before Samantha brought this to us and she was extremely reluctant to part with it but required a different instrument for a different style. Still, undeniably this Ukulele is capable of whatever magic your imagination can produce and your fingers can weave.
