Coast Ukuleles - Master Grade Hawaiian Koa Tenor Ukulele w/Floral Wood Inlays & Live Edge Sound hole #75
It’s always a happy day when a Coast ukulele shows up in the post. If you’ve never seen a Live Edge from Coast before then I envy that you get to for the first time now. Lovingly building ukuleles out of Petaluma, Kawai at Coast never fail to blow us away, not just with the visually impressive and wonderfully technical aesthetic in each and every instrument, but how they are able to generate so much sweetness in sound.
The overall vibe and presentation of these instruments have been outstanding, a joy to behold and a joy to play. They have an understated almost traditional beauty to them despite the elaborate look of the live edge soundhole. Kawaii's progression from an enthusiastic hobby builder to one of the world's best instrument makers is beautiful to behold. As a man who has spent nearly half of my life selling or playing ukuleles, I feel blessed to have anything Kawai wants to build for us.
This 17” scale length tenor features the most beautiful sound hole edge and seam, the undeniably stunning signature of Coast, utilising the natural split in the wood when book matching to create it. But that’s just the beginning for this final offering from Coast for 2024. This exclusive model features the 2024 floral inlay that flows seamlessly through the fingerboard and headstock, a Koa neck and shockingly figured wood for the back and sides. The natural physique of this gorgeous tenor sines through the Emtech natural grain gloss finish, which is a water based, mirror finish high gloss that protects like regular high gloss, but goes on nice an thin so you can still see and feel the natural grain of the Hawaiian Koa.
Of course there’s no way this ukulele could go anywhere without a woodshed case, so a lovely tweed case comes included with certificate of authenticity and information provided by the brilliant builders at Coast.
