Kamaka HF-2 Solid Hawaiian Koa Concert Ukulele in Hard Case #240987
Kamaka are responsible for many of the Ukulele designs, shapes and styles we take for granted today. With a rich long history of Ukulele innovation going back to 1916; the uke you already own and love will undoubtedly borrow from the original Kamaka Ukulele design in some indirect way. Kamaka didn't event the Concert Ukulele but many consider them the first company to really perfect it when they began making them 100 years ago.
Still based in Hawaii and the oldest and most established of the Hawaiian K brands; holding and feeling a standard Kamaka Ukulele is the most direct link to the inception and earliest days of the Ukulele. A HF-2 is matched only by the very first Martin Concert Ukuleles as the most revered traditional Concert ukes out there with its simple Hawaiian Koa top, back and sides that have each been individually tuned by Kamaka as they went through production. There is something simple, confident and elegant about a Kamaka with really the only important changes of note in the last century being the machine heads which are a Japanese made Gotoh Planetary geared tuner and a synthetic TUSQ material nut and saddle on the modern ukuleles.
A small scale Hawaiian Koa uke, made by a team that love what they do in the literal and spiritual home of the Ukulele.
