Ohana BK10 Laminate Mahogany Baritone Ukulele
The baritone is a bit unique in the ukulele family as it evolved out of New York and Boston rather than the sunny isles of Hawaii in the late 1940s. These no thrills BK10 Ohana baritone ukuleles are reminiscent of those early Favilla and Vega designs with the dark mahogany look matching the sound.
This ukulele baritone is a dependable, robust and affordable laminate mahogany instrument that looks traditional and vibey like early 60s Harmony baritones. But, it has modern finishing techniques and appointments that make it smooth to the touch and smoother on the ear, but great on the eyes as well.
The finish is an open pore satin which adds to the aesthetic vibe of the uke and I must say laminate or not it has an impressive bass response and is a suitably creamy sounding instrument if you strum those first position chords. The BK10 and sister uke the BK14 are both safe choices for anybody wanting a dependable first ukulele baritone.
