Let's talk about Chris Perkins. This is always a fun part of receving ukes from UK builders, and one of the biggest perks of being the Southern Ukulele Store. We get to see them and try them first, and when a Chris Perkins arrives it is always a treat.

It is clear that love, devotion and real care goes into every one of Chris's instruments, and this stunning Tenor is no exception to the rule. Built from B-E-A-utiful american black cedar it says look at me without screaming it. The figuring in the grain is just simply wonderful, and this is always something the Chris compliments with the embellishments on his instruments. The english sycamore binding pops, and adds further attention to the dark walnut body, framing it with a bright, contrastiing border continuing up the mahogany neck, binding on the dark indian rosewood fretboard. The aluminium dot inlays add a touch of modern flare, but the real cherry on top is the shining crown of a birdseye maple headstock cap, just as classy and eye catching as the sycamore binding.

Chris has tied all of these stunning features together so nicely, with the addition of the maple tail inlay, maple bridge pins and band of sycamore running through the rosewood bridge. However all of the above is null and void if it doesn't sound good right? Well rest easy dear reader, it's a peach!

This uke offers a delightfully musical sound. You're right that should be a given, it's a musical instrument. However, what I mean by this is the space between the frequencies allows that harp-like nature to really stand proud with this tenor, offering pleasing and warm midtones with sweet, clear highs sat atop.
