Fanner Jazzmistress - Baritone Electric Ukulele w/Whammy Bar System - Olive Drab Metallic
The rise of solid body Ukuleles has been sudden and extremely exciting... Flight and Risa have established these desgins as viable and modern alternatives to the Electric Guitar and have captured the heart of thousands of players and Fanner are established as well with an audience worldwide that seemingly can't recommend them enough. The Jazzmistresses are made in Cape Town, South Africa by the Fanner brothers offering a familiar 1950's guitar design but with a more compact and aesthetically trimmed body and a unique sound coming from tiny P90 pickups.
Fanner are very proud that most parts are produced in house for these ukuleles with the exception of the pickups and machine heads.
This Ukulele was built to order for Southern Ukulele Store - the body is hand shaped, sanded and sprayed in house. This method of everything being done by a single luthier or team of brothers really add to the vibe of the whole thing. Something previously unavailable in the Ukulele world. The pickups are hand scatter wound, wax potted and soaked in hot bees wax p90s with alnico 5 magnets. For many, this is considered the natural upgrade from ukes like the Flight pathfinder and even the more premium priced point Risa Solid body ukuleles.
This Jazzmistress is a Dual Pickup Baritone Ukulele with a slightly reduced Baritone 19'' scale length (still tuned DGBE). This is an upgraded model with twin P90 pickups, an Olive Drab Metallic Sparkle Finish with a classy maple fingerboard. 34mm nut width and 48cm scale length. The bridge saddles are adjustable, the nut is hand carved and the neck is maple. It's a machine! We love it.
This is also the first Ukulele we have ever received with a functional whammy bar system. This is acheived with a spring mechanism under the bridge controlled by a whammy bar (a short metal bar you can control with your fingers while you play). Our video demonstration in this listing with Phil shows this in all it's glory.
Listing shows actual instrument you will receive. The finish on these ukuleles is about 9/10 - Part of what makes these so affordable for a single luthier built instrument is the more rustic elements of the finish. Perfection is lovely but the bespoke singular build of this instrument at such a great price does mean the instrument has a more lived in look and feel.

This Ukulele comes with a single skin gigbag but it is very, very tight in the bag. We recommend upgrading the bag to a Kala Sonoma Coast Baritone Ukulele Gigbag if you intend to travel with the instrument regularly.
