aNueNue AMM2 Africa Mahogany II Concert Ukulele All Solid with gigbag
It has been a while since we've been treated to the aNueNue range of ukuleles and boy have they come on leaps and bounds. They're making a truly gorgeous, professional range of ukuleles that rival Ohana, Kala or Islander ukuleles.
The African mahogany ukuleles are a beautiful hybrid of sorts. I don't know if it is the light build or the gloss finish but they sound completely different to what I was expecting. They have a lovely amount of sharpness and clarity all the way up the fretboard that you don't really expect from mahogany.
This beautiful concert ukulele begs to be picked as much as they do strummed and it can handled any kind of input you give it, meaning we have one dynamic and boisterous instrument on our hands.
All of the other little touches are there too - bone nut and saddle, aNueNue's own brand machine heads are fantastic and their own brand clearwater strings are crisp and match the mighty lightweight punch of the ukulele.
The gloss finish I mentioned earlier is lovely and light and reminds me of other premium brands like Kamaka and Takumi which can only be high praise! African mahogany is rich in aesthetics and this is no different. This ukulele is just a cocktail of excellent ingredients and with the thinner neck profile; may be a good alternative to a high end Pono and can certainly give other brands a run for their money.
