USED 1960s Gibson BU-1 Baritone Ukulele in Tweed case

This wonderful old Gibson baritone ukulele is in really lovely condition for its age. Gibson only made baritone ukes for quite a short while, between 1961 and 1967, so these are very easy to date, but quite rare to find these days in this kind of condition.

This baritone has had its bridge reglued at some point, which is surprisingly common, but a good job was done. There is only minimal marking to the finish around the bridge to indicate that this was done. Other than this, there are no repairs that we can see, no other cracks or neck breaks that have been repaired - which are also very common!

The sound is absolutely as you would hope from nice old mahogany instrument. It has a nostaligic warmth and charm to it that is hard to define in words. Just suffice to say that you know that you are holding a great bit of kit that was built to last.

Being nearly 60 years old it has got lots of cosmetic marks all over the body, but nothing more than you would expect for its age. The friction pegs are original, and will take a little practise at using as they are a little stiff, but they hold tune nicely once to you there. You may choose to upgrade them to a set of planetary Gotoh tuners, as this is a players instrument after all, not a museum piece, but equally it is nice to offer something in such nice original condition. 

We replaced the case it came in, which was non-Gibson original and falling apart, with a nice new Tweed TGI case.
