USED Kanile'a KSTP Solid Hawaiian Koa Tenor Ukulele 13735 (2015)

The KSTP is now a discontinued model but we are delighted that this departed the sunny shores of Oahu and found its way to us - twice. The Koa on this one is an absolute holographic joy on the eye - perhaps not as intensely curly as some others we have had, but just lovely with sensational flaming, with a nice tight straight grain.

The solid Koa shimmers, dazzles and excites both the ears and the eyes. Crystal clarity of sound, sustain that goes on and on and a tone to die for. Kanile'a's clever touch and release bracing pattern allows more of the top to ring for longer. It is crazy to think how much building methods have changed but this is an excellent early example of Kanile'as now immensely popular UV gloss finish and an early example of the sand inlays.

The Ebony fixtures and fittings really help the sound - as a hard, dense wood, it soaks up minimal vibrations allowing more sound to ring for longer.

This one does display signs of being used, with various small dings to the top and some really faint playwear marks around the soundhole, and other small marks around on the body and headstock so expect no more than a 7/10 cosmetically. But, it has opened up so nicely and with a new set of M620s on it, it is singing!
