USED Pono ATDC-CR Cedar/Acacia Tenor Ukulele with Headway Snake pickup and case

£450.00 £450.00
Take the excellent all solid acacia gloss Pono ATD, add a high grade solid Cedar top and a cutaway, and you have the Pono ATDC-CR Deluxe Tenor. Cedar, as any classical guitarist will tell you, has great volume and projection like Spruce, but a more mellow edge. This particular model also features a cutaway so If you are after a high quality all rounder which will give you smooth and creamy sounding bass and mids, and decent treble presence as well, then this will be your answer.

All the normal Deluxe Pono fittings such as the Ebony on the fretboard and bridge, add up to make this a superb precision tool which can handle pretty much anything you throw at it!
This one was fitted with the Headway Snake pickup by us a few years ago, and has been around the block a few times since then. It is a workhorse of an instrument with a long story to tell, I am sure. It has a good number of small wormy marks to the top, like the ones you make when you are changing strings sometimes. There are a fair few small chips to the gloss on the edge of the back and sides on the bottom bout, one doozy of a ding right on the crown of the headstock, and plenty of buckle rash type marks on the back.
But, these are spectacularly well made, and will go on for years and years, Do not expect cosmetic perfection (6/10).

About the Pono line: The “Pono” line is made by Ko’olau one of the oldest and most traditional Hawaiian ukulele manufacturers. Ko’olau’s goal throughout the years has been to provide the highest quality stringed instruments available with a high standard of craftsmanship. And besides methods of construction to optimize tone and volume, they stress the importance of cosmetic beauty. It is of interest to note that only the finest grades of quartersawn hardwoods, such as Acacia, Mahogany, Rosewood, and Ebony are selected for Pono instruments. However, only 20% pass the stringent requirements of density, grain patterns, flexibility, and cosmetic aesthetics. This is virtually unknown, especially in the Asian import market. We are proud of the fact that all of the Pono instruments are made of solid woods.
